Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar

Skin problems and pesky insects
don’t stand a chance.

seriously if our Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar was a human she’d have a cape and wear her undies over her tights!

Big animals need TLC too, so we created a larger bar with larger animals such as horses, big dogs, cattle, goats and other livestock in mind. Rest assured, it’s still okay for puppies and smaller animals too.

While we like to be as positive as possible, when it comes to Horse and Hound, we are pretty anti. That’s because the essential oils in the bar are naturally anti-fungal , anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. As well as anti-allergenic and anti-insects. So problems like ticks and lice, ring worm and mud fever don’t stand a chance. It does all this while being incredibly gentle on sensitive skins.

Whilst we created this for big animals,
it's amazing how many people have started using it on their own skin problems.

We’ve made the bars a generous size so they are easy to use on large animals.

  • Perfect for skin disorders and problems including fungal infections, inflammation and irritation
  • Helps soothe itchy skin
  • Knocks ticks, lice and fleas off your animal
  • For horses - tried and tested on NZ’s wild Kaimanawa horses - straight out of the wild - incredibly gentle on even the wildest and most sensitive skins.
    • Helps clear up mud fever, rain scald and ring worm
    • Brightens whites without purple or orange hands after giving them a wash
    • No need for separate shampoos for different coat colours. Our shampoo bar brings out the best in all coats – whether light or dark - and leaves them shiny, soft and smelling great
    • A great way to wash your horse - it won't leak in your tack bag, you won't lose half the bottle when the horse kicks it over part way through the wash
  • Easy to use and gentle on your hands (perfect for humans who get eczema, dermatitis or other skin problems)
  • There’s the equivalent of over a litre of liquid shampoo in each and every bar

Our soap bars are naked. That’s because we're doing our bit to make a difference for planet earth. We are philosophically opposed to unnecessary packaging. So when when you're finished, the unbleached kraft paper bags are compostable. The display cardboard boxes can also be composted or recycled.

  • Wet your animal thoroughly with water and either rub the soap directly onto their coat or lather up into a sponge and rub in.
  • Work the soap in with a good massage - getting washed should be enjoyable.
  • Leave the soap in for 3 - 5 minutes. If you're washing a horse or other very large animal, you can do this by leaving the soap on one side while you work on the other.
  • Rinse off with clean water.

If your animal has ticks, they should start falling off within 24 hours (resist the temptation to pick any off during the wash). Fleas should fall off the animal straight away.

In the unlikely event of any skin reaction to this product, discontinue use.

Important: Avoid getting soap in animal’s eyes.

“We have been using the WashBar range on our horses and dogs for the past season and are impressed! With the Horse & Hound Shampoo Bar it’s easy to get a rich lather, rinses well and gives a whole new meaning to the word clean – whites are whiter and their coats have never been softer. Most importantly the all-natural ingredients offer a gentle and effective way to restore your horses or dogs natural oils and helps to banish fleas, ticks and skin conditions.”

”I used the Horse and Hound Shampoo Bar on my Cocker Spaniels, one who does have sensitive skin. I would just like to say that the bar was brilliant on both of them - their fur felt lovely after washed, really shiny and soft. I had to wash my wee lad again just a few days later after rolling in something not too nice, and his fur looks even better! I have spent a lot on shampoos that promise a lot, but don't seem to deliver, but I highly recommend this bar to others. Its great value and fabulous to use."

“My Irish Hunter Sniff was two at the time and had had minimal handling. He came down with a pretty serious case of mud fever. All four of his once white stockings were covered in thick scabs from the top of his hoof to his hocks. I was a little apprehensive about treating him as Sniff had only had basic lead training. I used Horse & Hound with warm water and a sponge. I soaped up all four legs, so the soap sat for about five minutes each leg while I worked my way round. Then I rinsed off with clean water every day for about a week. I didn’t have to scrub or pick at the scabs, they just fell off. I didn’t even put any cream or anything else on. By the end of the week pretty well all the scabs had fallen off. It was amazing at how easy it was. And his socks were pretty well glowing in the dark they were so white.”
